Ask in plain language. Get grounded answers from live European grid data — frequency events, balancing activation, congestion pressure, cross-border flows. 50 questions per month, full historical context, zero guesswork.
Free educational tools built on ENTSO-E and TSO data — live dashboards, weekly summaries, analyst articles, and report samples. Grid Compass dashboards are free with a Quasar account. The Grid Bot is a community grant.
Data is fetched on a schedule, analysed once, and published for everyone to read.
ENTSO-E Transparency Platform and TSO feeds for NL, DE-LU, BE and FR — prices, flows, balancing, frequency.
Scheduled batch jobs and Quasar AI turn raw data into structured weekly and monthly narratives.
Live dashboards, HTML summaries, PDF archives, and blog articles — free to browse, no per-visitor generation.
AI Grid Analyst remains an optional paid tool for practitioners who want the dispatch co-pilot. Everything else stays free.
Live dashboards, weekly summaries, blog articles, and report samples — free. Market and Grid Pulse reports are published in the free public archive.
This page documents how numbers are made from ENTSO-E and TSO data, and what they cannot tell you. Built by a practitioner, shared freely.
Three layers separate raw data from the intelligence you receive. The AI writes the story — it never invents the numbers.
Every number in our reports comes from measured data processed by deterministic statistical algorithms. AI generates narrative text only — never the data. You can always verify our analysis against the source datasets.
Grid Compass monitors frequency, detects stress events, and delivers AI root-cause analysis; our market reports provide weekly and monthly intelligence for NL, DE-LU, BE, and FR. But we're an insight layer — not an operational platform. We don't control DER assets, optimise VPP dispatch, or stream tick-by-tick trading data. We push intelligence to the edge of the grid — operators, traders, and analysts make the decisions.
This is a personal educational resource, not a consultancy. You get standardised reports and dashboards built on ENTSO-E and TSO data — freely available. Custom modelling engagements aren't what we do.
Our market analytics and grid intelligence cover four bidding zones today. If you need other European markets, we're likely not the right fit yet.
What each dataset stands on, what we guarantee, and where the qualified professional picks up.
Historical data sourced from the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform with snapshot timestamps on every chart. Forward outlooks are a statistical 7-day projection — not a trading signal.
Live TSO feeds with balancing activation analytics and imbalance-spread decomposition. Every panel shows source and last-update timestamp. Free with a Quasar account.
Deterministic statistics computed from archived TSO data for the prior 7-day window. AI narrative synthesises the deterministic statistics — never adding numbers.
Tool calls over live TSO data. Every answer cites source and timestamp. If a number isn't retrievable, the bot says so — it never fabricates. Community grant — dashboards stay free with your account.
Every numerical output traces deterministically to a cited standard or authoritative data source. The AI layer never introduces unsourced numbers. Delivery within the stated turnaround. GDPR-compliant processing throughout.
Final design sign-off, DSO or permit acceptance, local code compliance, and on-site conditions remain the responsibility of the qualified professional applying the output.

I'm a power systems engineer and researcher. European electricity is going through the deepest transformation in a century — and I've found it surprisingly hard to share truthful information about what's actually happening. Headlines chase hype. Narratives get shaped by whoever shouts loudest. The grid is more resilient and more fragile than either camp admits.
Quasar Energy is my answer to that: a place to show the evidence. Live ENTSO-E and TSO data, weekly synthesis, articles that walk through the mechanics, and a free archive of market and grid reports. Not a university course. Not a sales deck. Just clarity — for anyone who wants to understand power systems without the noise.
The transition is genuinely difficult. It is also solvable — with engineering, patience, and honest accounting of trade-offs. That's the consciousness I want to expand: see what's real, cut through the fakes, and keep room for hope that's grounded in data.
Dashboards, weekly summaries, articles, report samples — all of it, no paywall. I run this because I think the information matters, not because I'm selling you something.
It does cost real money to keep going: servers, data feeds, the weekly report runs. A voluntary donation path will open here later. A donation will be a gift — it will not buy the Grid Bot or skip the community grant.
Claim the Grid Bot → Need more Hub credits? Email contact@quasarenergy.nl. Questions? Drop me a line.
Questions about the live dashboards, weekly reports, or articles on this site? Feedback, corrections, or a topic you'd like explained — we'd love to hear from you.

When you send a message via our contact form we collect your name, email address, subject and message to handle and reply to your enquiry.
Legal basis — Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: legitimate interest in communicating with prospective and existing clients.
Some pages of this website offer a support chat widget. When you use it, the message you type and the history of your current chat session are sent to our chat backend hosted by Vercel and processed by Anthropic's Claude API to generate an answer. Conversations are processed transiently to answer your question: we do not store chat transcripts on our servers, we do not link them to an account or identity, and per Anthropic's API terms your messages are not used to train AI models. Do not enter personal or confidential information into the chat — it is intended for questions about European energy and this site.
Legal basis — Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: legitimate interest in offering automated visitor support.
If you type a city name in the Solar Explorer, it is sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim (geocoding) via our server-side proxy. The resulting coordinates are forwarded to the PVGIS API (European Commission) to retrieve solar irradiance data. The city name relates to a geographic location, not to you personally, and is not stored by us.
This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request metadata as our data processor to serve the site reliably and protect it against abuse (DDoS / WAF).
Legal basis — Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: legitimate interest in operating a secure and available service.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to collect aggregated, anonymous usage statistics such as page views, referrer URLs, browser type, device type and country. This service uses no cookies and does not collect or store IP addresses — your IP is used only transiently to derive your country and is then discarded. No data is linked to individual visitors.
Legal basis — Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: legitimate interest in understanding aggregate site usage to improve our services.
When you create a free Grid Compass account, Clerk (our authentication provider) collects your email address to manage passwordless sign-in and grant dashboard access. Community-join metadata (registered site origin, pending mention, and the community_bot grant) is stored in Clerk public metadata. Historical Stripe customer references may still be present on older accounts.
Legal basis — Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR: performance of a contract (providing Grid Compass access).
If you use the AI Grid Analyst (community grant) or unlock Intelligence Hub insights (credits), the questions you ask and the parameters you select are processed by our backend hosted on Railway and sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the analysis. Chat conversations are not stored on our servers — the conversation history exists only in your browser session and is resent with each question. Per Anthropic's API terms, your questions are not used to train AI models. We do store usage metering data linked to your account: a monthly question counter for the AI Grid Analyst, your credit balance, and a ledger of historical credit purchases and unlocked insights, held in our Neon-hosted PostgreSQL database. Request metadata (timestamps, IP-based rate-limiting counters) is logged for security and abuse prevention.
Legal basis — Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR: performance of a contract; Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for security logging.
Stripe processed former AI Grid Analyst subscriptions and credit-pack purchases. Stripe acts as an independent data controller for payment data on its platform. We retain historical subscription status, Stripe customer references, and order records in Clerk metadata and our Neon-hosted database for bookkeeping. We do not collect new subscription payments.
When a voluntary donation path is opened on the support page, the payment provider (expected: Stripe) will process the donor’s payment details. We will store only what we need to acknowledge the gift and meet bookkeeping duties. A donation will not be linked as payment for the Grid Bot grant.
Legal basis — Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR for statutory bookkeeping of historical invoices; Art. 6(1)(b) for any remaining portal access; Art. 6(1)(a) or 6(1)(b) for a future donation you choose to make, as disclosed at that time.
Strictly necessary (no consent required): We store one item in your browser's localStorage (qe_ad_consent) to remember your cookie preference. This does not require consent under Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive / Dutch Telecommunicatiewet Art. 11.7a. If you use Grid Compass, a short-lived session cookie (__session) is set by Clerk to authenticate your signed-in session. The Intelligence Hub additionally caches recently unlocked insights in your browser's localStorage so they can be shown again without a new request — this data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.
Analytics (consent required): If you click "Accept Analytics" in our cookie banner, we enable Google Analytics 4 (GA4) via gtag.js. GA4 collects website usage data including page views, session duration, scroll depth, navigation paths, and referral sources. These cookies are set by Google (domain: google-analytics.com). We do not load Google Ads tags, advertising cookies, or remarketing pixels. We use Google Consent Mode v2 with region-specific defaults: for visitors in the EEA and United Kingdom, analytics storage is disabled by default until you consent; advertising-related consent signals remain denied at all times. For visitors outside these regions, analytics may be active from page load — you can opt out via the cookie banner at any time. If you decline, Google operates in cookieless mode without analytics cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage.

Messages you exchange with the support chat widget or the AI Grid Analyst are not stored on our servers. Conversation history exists only in your browser session and disappears when the session ends. Only usage metering (question counts, credit ledger) is retained — see the Grid Compass account entry below.
Until July 2026 we sold AI-generated PDF reports (engineering calculations, market analytics, Grid Pulse). Email addresses and order inputs from those purchases were automatically anonymised 90 days after submission (email replaced with [anonymized], form data erased, PDF deleted); any VAT identification number provided was erased in the same process. The anonymised transaction skeleton (report type, payment status, timestamps) is retained for 7 years to satisfy Dutch bookkeeping obligations (Art. 52 AWR).

| KVK | 98795589 |
| BTW | NL005354375B07 |

These Terms apply to (a) use of this website and its free content and tools, including the free report archive at /reports; (b) Grid Compass accounts; (c) the AI Grid Analyst as a community grant; (d) intelligence credits already on an account; and (e) voluntary donations once that path is opened. By using this website or creating an account you agree to be bound by these Terms. We no longer sell the AI Grid Analyst.
Where a buyer is a business (not a consumer), mandatory consumer-protection provisions under Dutch law do not apply; such provisions are marked [consumer only] where relevant.
Quasar Energy provides the following free of charge and without registration:
All free content and tools are provided on an as-is basis. Availability, content, and scope may change or be discontinued at any time. See sections 10 and 11 for AI and data disclaimers.
Grid Compass is a free intelligence workspace available after creating an account. It includes real-time grid dashboards, the Congestion Relief Intelligence dashboard, and access to the Intelligence Hub. New accounts receive a one-time grant of 50 welcome credits upon first verified sign-up (one grant per person; see section 7).
The AI Grid Analyst (Grid Bot) is a community grant for Grid Compass account holders. It is not sold. Access is recorded on your account as community_bot after a manual approve (webmention join or a grant I make myself). How to ask is explained at /join/. Usage is subject to a fair-use quota of 50 questions per calendar month (see section 9). A grant can be withdrawn if you change the registered site, abuse the service, or breach these Terms. A grant does not create a paid subscription and does not entitle you to a refund or a substitute cash value.
Credits are prepaid units already on an account — from the welcome grant or a previously purchased pack — that unlock individual AI-generated insights in the Intelligence Hub (such as zone quality scores, asymmetry snapshots, daily briefings, event explanations, and battery arbitrage analyses). New credit packs are not sold. If you need more credits for research or teaching, email contact@quasarenergy.nl. The credit cost of each insight is shown before you unlock it. Credit terms are set out in section 7.
A Grid Compass account is created via passwordless email sign-in. You agree to:
Quasar Energy may suspend or terminate an account that materially breaches these Terms, with notice where reasonably possible. You may delete your account at any time by emailing contact@quasarenergy.nl; see the Privacy Statement for what happens to your data.
We do not currently sell the AI Grid Analyst or new intelligence credit packs. Historical subscriptions and credit-pack purchases remain binding at the price shown at the time of that transaction. Stripe remains available for historical invoices via the customer portal if your account already has a Stripe customer record.
Quasar Energy is a Dutch sole trader (eenmanszaak) with VAT number NL005354375B07. We are not an ANBI. A later voluntary donation, when opened on the support page, will be a gift with no consideration: it does not buy the Grid Bot, skip approval, raise the quota, or create a consumer sales contract. Donations to this business are generally not tax-deductible as ANBI gifts. If a payment is ever treated as consideration for a service, the applicable VAT (BTW) will be shown before you confirm. Until the donation path is opened, no donation is collected on this website.
New AI Grid Analyst subscriptions and trials are not offered. If you previously held a paid or trial subscription, that product is retired. Access continues only if your account holds the community grant. Historical invoices remain available through the Stripe customer portal while that portal is kept online. We do not start new paid periods.
Because we no longer sell the AI Grid Analyst, there is no new distance contract for that service and therefore no new statutory withdrawal period. A future voluntary donation, when opened, is intended as a gift without consideration and does not itself create a consumer sales contract for the bot.
If you are a consumer who still has a statutory claim from a historical paid subscription or credit-pack purchase, email contact@quasarenergy.nl. Mandatory consumer rights that applied to that past purchase remain available where the law still provides them (including Directive 2011/83/EU as implemented in Dutch law). Consumer users retain all other statutory rights that cannot be waived.
The AI Grid Analyst is subject to a fair-use quota of 50 questions per calendar month per account. In addition, you agree not to:
Quasar Energy may throttle, suspend, or terminate access in case of abuse. Using AI outputs within your own organisation and quoting brief excerpts with attribution is permitted.
The archived reports, weekly summaries, AI Grid Analyst answers, Intelligence Hub insights, and support chat responses are AI-generated informational products. They are produced automatically using publicly available data and AI analysis, and no human analyst reviews individual outputs. AI outputs can be incomplete or incorrect — verify anything material against the underlying data before acting on it.
Nothing on this website constitutes financial advice, investment recommendations, energy-trading signals, or grid-operational guidance. Decisions based on our analytics are your sole responsibility, and Quasar Energy accepts no liability for damages arising from acting on AI outputs without independent verification.
Quasar's validation approach and scope limits are documented on the public quality statement at /advantage#section-quality. Every numerical output traces deterministically to a cited authoritative data source; the AI layer never introduces unsourced numbers.
The Energy Markets dashboard, Grid Frequency dashboard, weekly summary, Congestion Relief Intelligence dashboard, Solar Explorer, archived reports, and all AI analytics are provided for informational and planning purposes only.
Educational pages, blog posts, and archived reports may be republished with clear attribution and a link to the original URL. Do not present them as your own analysis. Brief excerpts may be quoted with attribution.
AI Grid Analyst answers and Intelligence Hub insights are licensed to the account holder for personal or internal business purposes. They may not be resold, systematically redistributed, or used to provide paid analytics services to third parties without prior written consent from Quasar Energy.

To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch law:
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory Dutch law.
These Terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent court in Amsterdam, unless mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.
If you have a complaint, contact us first at contact@quasarenergy.nl — we respond within 14 days. The competent Dutch consumer authority is the Autoriteit Consument & Markt (ACM) — acm.nl.
Quasar Energy may update these Terms at any time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Historical purchases remain governed by the version in force at the time of that purchase. Opening a donation path later is a material change and will be reflected here before any donation is collected.
