2. Scope

These Terms apply to (a) use of this website and its free content and tools, including the free report archive at /reports; (b) Grid Compass accounts; (c) the AI Grid Analyst as a community grant; (d) intelligence credits already on an account; and (e) voluntary donations once that path is opened. By using this website or creating an account you agree to be bound by these Terms. We no longer sell the AI Grid Analyst.

Where a buyer is a business (not a consumer), mandatory consumer-protection provisions under Dutch law do not apply; such provisions are marked [consumer only] where relevant.

3. Products & Services

3.1 Free Content & Tools

Quasar Energy provides the following free of charge and without registration:

  • Energy Markets Dashboard — live and near-real-time European electricity market data and grid analytics, sourced via Grafana hosted on Railway.
  • Grid Frequency Dashboard — live European grid frequency monitoring and historical frequency data, sourced via Grafana hosted on Railway.
  • Grid Intelligence Weekly Summary — free weekly overview of grid frequency events and key metrics for the NL, DE-LU, BE, and FR zones, published every Monday.
  • Report Archive — AI-generated market analytics and Grid Pulse grid-frequency reports (PDF), published to a free public archive at /reports.
  • Solar Explorer — location-based solar irradiance and yield estimation powered by the PVGIS 5.3 API (European Commission, Joint Research Centre).
  • Support chat — an AI-powered chat widget answering questions about European energy and this site.

All free content and tools are provided on an as-is basis. Availability, content, and scope may change or be discontinued at any time. See sections 10 and 11 for AI and data disclaimers.

3.2 Grid Compass (Free Account)

Grid Compass is a free intelligence workspace available after creating an account. It includes real-time grid dashboards, the Congestion Relief Intelligence dashboard, and access to the Intelligence Hub. New accounts receive a one-time grant of 50 welcome credits upon first verified sign-up (one grant per person; see section 7).

3.3 AI Grid Analyst (Community Grant)

The AI Grid Analyst (Grid Bot) is a community grant for Grid Compass account holders. It is not sold. Access is recorded on your account as community_bot after a manual approve (webmention join or a grant I make myself). How to ask is explained at /join/. Usage is subject to a fair-use quota of 50 questions per calendar month (see section 9). A grant can be withdrawn if you change the registered site, abuse the service, or breach these Terms. A grant does not create a paid subscription and does not entitle you to a refund or a substitute cash value.

3.4 Intelligence Credits

Credits are prepaid units already on an account — from the welcome grant or a previously purchased pack — that unlock individual AI-generated insights in the Intelligence Hub (such as zone quality scores, asymmetry snapshots, daily briefings, event explanations, and battery arbitrage analyses). New credit packs are not sold. If you need more credits for research or teaching, email contact@quasarenergy.nl. The credit cost of each insight is shown before you unlock it. Credit terms are set out in section 7.

4. Accounts

A Grid Compass account is created via passwordless email sign-in. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate account information and keep access to your email account secure;
  • Use one account per person and not share account access with others;
  • Not create multiple accounts to obtain repeated welcome-credit grants or circumvent usage quotas.

Quasar Energy may suspend or terminate an account that materially breaches these Terms, with notice where reasonably possible. You may delete your account at any time by emailing contact@quasarenergy.nl; see the Privacy Statement for what happens to your data.

5. Historical Payments, VAT & Future Donations

We do not currently sell the AI Grid Analyst or new intelligence credit packs. Historical subscriptions and credit-pack purchases remain binding at the price shown at the time of that transaction. Stripe remains available for historical invoices via the customer portal if your account already has a Stripe customer record.

Quasar Energy is a Dutch sole trader (eenmanszaak) with VAT number NL005354375B07. We are not an ANBI. A later voluntary donation, when opened on the support page, will be a gift with no consideration: it does not buy the Grid Bot, skip approval, raise the quota, or create a consumer sales contract. Donations to this business are generally not tax-deductible as ANBI gifts. If a payment is ever treated as consideration for a service, the applicable VAT (BTW) will be shown before you confirm. Until the donation path is opened, no donation is collected on this website.

6. Former Subscribers

New AI Grid Analyst subscriptions and trials are not offered. If you previously held a paid or trial subscription, that product is retired. Access continues only if your account holds the community grant. Historical invoices remain available through the Stripe customer portal while that portal is kept online. We do not start new paid periods.

7. Intelligence Credits

  • Credits are prepaid units already on an account (welcome grant or previously purchased). New packs are not sold. If you need more credits, email contact@quasarenergy.nl.
  • Credits already on an account continue to work. They are non-transferable, have no cash value, and do not expire for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, remaining credits lapse.
  • Welcome credits (50 per new account) are a promotional grant: one grant per person, no cash value, and revocable in case of abuse (e.g. duplicate accounts).
  • A credit is deducted when you unlock an insight. Most unlocked insights are cached in your browser for 30 minutes — requesting the same insight for the same zone within that window does not cost a second credit. Insight types that are unique per request (such as event explanations and arbitrage analyses) are excluded and cost a credit each time.
  • Credits spent on an insight that demonstrably failed to deliver (e.g. a technical error on our side) are re-credited on request via contact@quasarenergy.nl.

8. Right of Withdrawal  [CONSUMER ONLY]

Because we no longer sell the AI Grid Analyst, there is no new distance contract for that service and therefore no new statutory withdrawal period. A future voluntary donation, when opened, is intended as a gift without consideration and does not itself create a consumer sales contract for the bot.

If you are a consumer who still has a statutory claim from a historical paid subscription or credit-pack purchase, email contact@quasarenergy.nl. Mandatory consumer rights that applied to that past purchase remain available where the law still provides them (including Directive 2011/83/EU as implemented in Dutch law). Consumer users retain all other statutory rights that cannot be waived.

9. Acceptable Use & Fair Use

The AI Grid Analyst is subject to a fair-use quota of 50 questions per calendar month per account. In addition, you agree not to:

  • Query the services by automated means (bots, scripts, scraping) or attempt to extract the underlying datasets in bulk;
  • Circumvent or attempt to circumvent authentication, quotas, credit metering, or technical protection measures;
  • Resell, sublicense, or systematically redistribute the services or their outputs as a competing product or service;
  • Use the services for any unlawful purpose or in a way that disrupts them for other users.

Quasar Energy may throttle, suspend, or terminate access in case of abuse. Using AI outputs within your own organisation and quoting brief excerpts with attribution is permitted.

10. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

The archived reports, weekly summaries, AI Grid Analyst answers, Intelligence Hub insights, and support chat responses are AI-generated informational products. They are produced automatically using publicly available data and AI analysis, and no human analyst reviews individual outputs. AI outputs can be incomplete or incorrect — verify anything material against the underlying data before acting on it.

Nothing on this website constitutes financial advice, investment recommendations, energy-trading signals, or grid-operational guidance. Decisions based on our analytics are your sole responsibility, and Quasar Energy accepts no liability for damages arising from acting on AI outputs without independent verification.

Quasar's validation approach and scope limits are documented on the public quality statement at /advantage#section-quality. Every numerical output traces deterministically to a cited authoritative data source; the AI layer never introduces unsourced numbers.

11. Data Disclaimer

The Energy Markets dashboard, Grid Frequency dashboard, weekly summary, Congestion Relief Intelligence dashboard, Solar Explorer, archived reports, and all AI analytics are provided for informational and planning purposes only.

  • Market, grid frequency, and congestion data is sourced from third parties (including the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform, Fraunhofer ISE energy-charts.info, GOPACS, SMARD, and Elia Open Data) and may not reflect real-time conditions;
  • Solar irradiance data is sourced from the PVGIS 5.3 API (European Commission, JRC) and represents historical averages;
  • No guarantee is given as to accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data;
  • Market and grid data does not constitute financial, investment, energy-trading, or grid-operational advice;
  • Forecasts, battery dispatch windows, and arbitrage analyses in reports and AI insights are model outputs — actual grid conditions depend on real-time generation, demand, and interconnector flows;
  • Solar yield estimates are indicative — actual performance depends on installation quality, shading, equipment, and site conditions.

12. Intellectual Property

Educational pages, blog posts, and archived reports may be republished with clear attribution and a link to the original URL. Do not present them as your own analysis. Brief excerpts may be quoted with attribution.

AI Grid Analyst answers and Intelligence Hub insights are licensed to the account holder for personal or internal business purposes. They may not be resold, systematically redistributed, or used to provide paid analytics services to third parties without prior written consent from Quasar Energy.

Software, dashboards, and AI engines remain the intellectual property of Quasar Energy. Unauthorised reproduction or commercial use of those systems is prohibited.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch law:

  • Quasar Energy's total liability for any claim arising from a historical paid purchase or a future donation is limited to the amount you actually paid for that item in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim;
  • Quasar Energy is not liable for indirect, special, or consequential loss, including lost profits, missed trading opportunities, project delays, regulatory penalties, or damage from reliance on AI outputs or data;
  • Quasar Energy is not liable for any loss resulting from use of the free content and tools, including the report archive and support chat;
  • Quasar Energy is not liable for temporary unavailability of the services caused by maintenance, third-party providers, or circumstances outside our control.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory Dutch law.

14. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent court in Amsterdam, unless mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.

Consumer buyers  [consumer only]

If you have a complaint, contact us first at contact@quasarenergy.nl — we respond within 14 days. The competent Dutch consumer authority is the Autoriteit Consument & Markt (ACM)acm.nl.

15. Changes

Quasar Energy may update these Terms at any time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Historical purchases remain governed by the version in force at the time of that purchase. Opening a donation path later is a material change and will be reflected here before any donation is collected.
